Leading Affinity Practitioners join Howden
25.01.103 March 2009: Howden, a leading independent Lloyd’s broker providing a range of specialist insurances, today announced that Pierre Galeon and Peter Braganza have joined the business. Their focus will be to accelerate the growth of Howden’s current affinity business, and have stated their intention to make it a leader in the commercial affinity sector.
They join Howden from Marsh Limited where, from 2005 to 2008, Pierre was Practice Leader for the UK Commercial and Consumer Affinity Practice and Peter was CFO for the European Affinity Practice.
Howden’s affinity business currently specialises in liability insurance solutions. A large part of their initial focus will be on the re-organisation and broadening of the business unit around new sectors. This will involve new partnerships with third- party distribution networks in order to enable the delivery of liability packages for programmes and associations.
Mike Lobb, Managing Director of Howden Retail, comments: “Pierre and Peter bring huge expertise and industry knowledge to our business. I am confident that their in-depth understanding of this sector together with their experience of this market will make a significant difference as we focus on the growth of our affinity business. They are an outstanding addition to our team.”
Pierre has significant business-to-business (B2B) management experience having served as European Head of American Express third-party partnerships from 1999 to 2004. He began his career in banking at Credit Lyonnais and Barclays Bank in B2B roles, and holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut and a post-graduate degree from the Euromed Marseille Business School. Peter brings considerable expertise in the financial services sector having held senior roles in Marsh & McLennan, Aon and the TSB bank. He has led several major change management programmes and has significant strategy and consultancy experience. Peter is a post-graduate of Boston University and a Fellow of CIMA. He began his career at Ford of Europe.
Pierre said “We are delighted to join Howden. We’ve watched the company develop and grow from strength to strength”
Peter added “The recent backing from 3i is testament to the dynamism, entrepreneurialism and energy of the group. We relish the challenges that lie ahead.”
