Howden expands into general liability
10.07.088 October 2007: Howden, the leading independent Lloyd’s broker offering a range of specialist insurances and part of global insurance group Hyperion, today announced that it is building a team to further enhance its capabilities in general liability products including employers’ liability, public liability, product recall, product guarantee, and environmental and pollution liability.
Greg Ferguson has been appointed to build and lead this team. Greg has over ten years’ London market experience with a core focus on general liability business. He joins the company from Lloyd’s broker, Guest Krieger, where he held the role of senior non-marine broker placing direct, wholesale and reinsurance business into both the Lloyd’s and company markets. This role covered UK and international business including global programmes for multinational companies. Previous positions included working for Crispin Speers and Willis Limited.
Tim Coles, CEO of Howden in the UK, comments: “We have been picking up more and more business from our clients who have come to us looking for the same level of expertise and service for their general liability needs as they have received from Howden for other business critical covers. Greg’s appointment and remit to build a team will give greater focus to this area. By broadening out our liability capabilities in response to this demand, our clients will benefit from a more streamlined service from a broker renowned for finding solutions where others have failed to deliver.”
While the general liability team will be based in Howden’s City headquarters, they will provide support to the international wholesale division and UK retail division as well as working with the group’s overseas offices in Europe, Israel, India and Latin America.
Greg Ferguson concludes: “The development of a general liability team brings a potent new offering to Howden’s portfolio. We are well placed to meet the increasing demands from our client base for general liability expertise. I believe our market relationships, the flexibility of our approach, our ability to respond swiftly, and our in-depth product knowledge will both give Howden further competitive advantage as well as proving our clients with the service they need.”
